Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014!

It feels so surreal to be writing a post bidding farewell to 2013. Less than a day to go before we all enthusiastically welcome the New Year, today feels like the opportune moment to reflect on 2013.

This time last year, I made a commitment to invest in myself and spend more time on things that would make me a happier version of me. In addition, was a set of 10 attainable goals that I was determined to achieve. 7/10 goals under my belt and a more free spirited upgraded version of me later; I am pleasantly surprised by my achievements this year.

This year has taught me balance; to work hard and play just as hard. While focusing on my career and academic goals, I have devoted just as much time to dusting the dirt off my once buried outgoing personality; my blog has helped me achieve that. I have met amazing people, played around with fashion and used my blog as a place to document my thoughts and experiences albeit through look posts ;)

To my regular blog readers and stalkers (I see you lol) thank you so much for your views, comments and genuine support. I’m far from pro level, but looking forward to improving my content (and hopefully more regular posts) in 2014. Don’t forget to follow my blog to see the transformation as it unfolds

Have an amazing new year filled with lots of love, happiness, health and prosperity. Let’s make it a year to remember!!!

As a fashion blogger, it’s only fitting that I close off with an outfit post.

Street Style for Sunglass Hut

Hello there beauties

On Thursday I attended the #SghComeandPlay (Sunglass hut) event and it was absolutely amazing! I will be doing a separate post with all the deets about the event but for now, just know that it involved a few big SA celebs, great entertainment and a very generous R2000 Sunglass hut voucher, which I already redeemed against a brand new pair of Prada sunnies. *Swoooooon*

Have I mentioned before how much I love distressed denim boyfriend jeans? These are a size too big but I prefer baggy over the fit of my actual size which always seems to be too fitted to be a boyfriend :/ I love this Marc Jacobs inspired blouse that I found at Forever 21 and just realized that this is its official debut on my blog (If you follow me on Instagram, you probably would’ve seen this blouse before)

What do you think of this look?

Shabby Chic

Hello there fashionistas and happy Monday

You’ll have to forgive me for this delayed rant and rave about the Anisa Mpungwe for Mr Price range but I only had the opportunity to blog about now. HOW AMAZING IS THIS RANGE? I was in awe when I saw the range appear on my Instagram timeline and couldn’t wait for the official release online. I bought the pleather pencil skirt and graphic tee which I paired together for my Saturday OOTD.

Modern Muse

Last week, I attended the launch of Modern Muse; a new perfume launched by Estee Lauder. Modern Muse symbolizes self confidence in a woman that is inspiring to those around her. This independent muse could be your mother, Oprah or even the University student down the road; a modern muse is not defined by age, beauty or wealth which is probably the reason behind the strong and sophisticated yet youthful scent.

The event was hosted at the Sandton Stuttafords and guests were welcomed with Champagne and Non-alcoholic grape juice by the Estee Lauder team. We all mingled while snacking on finger foods and “eat me even though I will make you fat” cupcakes while we waited for the event to start. I obviously used this time to get an #OOTD pic snapped LOL
Chris Williams, a regional make-up artist for Estee Lauder, was our host for the evening. He showed the guests (some completely bare faced) a 3 step make up application routine that focuses on the essentials: Lashes, lips and luminance.

Lashes

Lips

Luminance

Chris made applying make-up look so quick and easy that we all left the event feeling like professional make-up artists. Once I get my (almost non-existent) make-up collection going, I will definitely give “Lashes, lips and luminance” a try.

Thank you to Stuttafords and Estee Lauder for a great event and to my friend Bavika for inviting me along with her

Keeping it simple

Happy (Throwback) Thursday

Guess who is back with a very simple ootd? This simple maxi and all star combo is what I wore on Saturday. I added the statement necklace and my favourite mustard bag (I know I’ve been butchering this bag lately by using it as often as I have been) just to add some colour. I just realized that I’ve been wearing a lot of denim and even more grey lately. Maybe I should challenge myself to a denim and grey free month? After I wear my new boyfriend jeans of course…

Put your cool hat on

Hello there Fashion loving friends

This is what I wore yesterday. I can’t get over this awesome hat that I found at Topshop recently. The minute it lands on my head, I get this sudden urge to pretend that I’m the lead singer in a rock band that wears cool hats. I know joburgers are probably thinking that I’m completely looney to have worn so much black in almost 30 degree heat but I’m an impulsive dresser that rarely cares about the weather LOL

Boyfriend in the Spring

Greetings fashionistas & happy October

I’m back with a casual (& relatively old) outfit post this week. My version of the boyfriend Jeans (a normal slim fit, 3 sizes too big) is fast becoming my go to item when looking for something to wear. Not only does it disguise any traces of a fat day, it’s also really comfy and oh so versatile. Although I’m not ready to bid farewell to my super skinnies just yet but I will admit that embracing this trend has definitely added a refreshing twist to my recent looks. Just a word of advice, invest in a pair! If denim is forever, boyfriend jeans will surely stand the trend of time (My failed attempt at being witty, LOL)
